Now that the weather has turned warmer more and more people are getting started on their gardens. I plant most of my vegetables in rows. I prefer to use a Warren Hoe to dig my rows, but any thing that will dig a small trench will work. Once the furrow has been dug I normally soak it to help the seeds get wet so they can germinate. I plant the seeds according to their needs as far as spacing. Once the seeds are planted I walk down the row kicking dirt into trench and packing down the dirt with a rake. Once the row has been packed down I water it again, and try to keep in moist until the sprouts appear.
Peas seem to be one of the more popular plants that people put in their home gardens. This post is dedicated to planting peas, that is how I plant peas. I normally plant my peas as deep as my hoe will go, which is about 2-3 inches. There are a lot of different spacing suggestions for pea seeds but a lot of people I know plant the seeds as close as they want. Peas do just fine growing closely together and you can get more peas in a row this way. You can plant the rows as closely you want as well but I like to plant them about 2-3 feet apart so that I can get in between the rows to plant, however even as small as 1 foot apart has worked. It really just depends on the space you have and what you want to do.
